Michael W Foster. B.Ed, MA, C.Chem, MRSC.

Research & Development

Michael was born in South East London in 1949 and educated at St Dunstan’s College, Catford, and subsequently at the Universities of Southampton and London, followed by a part time Masters degree through the Open University. His specialist subjects were Biochemistry and Radiochemistry

He was a teacher in London (Charterhouse School), Penzance (Girls Grammar School and then Humphry Davy School), Exeter (St Margaret’s School and then Exeter School) and finally in Paignton (Tower House School) before retiring in 2013. He then tutored to A and S level and First Year University Chemistry)

He also served in the Armed Forces reserves (RNXS, RNR, TA and cadets) for a total of 48 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2017. He was appointed the Cadet Forces National Signals Advisor in 2000. He was awarded three Lord Lieutenant’s commendations for meritorious voluntary service.

He is currently the Treasurer of the local childcare charity in Totnes, South Devon, and has been a Trustee since 2014, and is the nominated individual to represent the charity to Ofsted.
