Coconut Palm Weevil
More than 900 species of insect-pests attack the coconut palm, among those are the rhinoceros beetle, red palm weevil and coconut mite. Currently, farmers are solely dependant on chemical sprays which are destroying the natural enemies the insect- pest would have.
The Coconut palm grows in more than 93 countries in the world covering a total area of 12 million hectares with an annual production of 59.98 million tonnes of coconuts. India is the 2nd largest producer of coconut in the world with 14.7 million tonnes of coconuts per year.

Coconut palms are the important plantation crop in many tropical and subtropical parts of the world where they play a major role in the national economy of the country and generating employment opportunities for rural populations. Each and every part of the coconut is useful henceforth this tree is called as "Kalpavriksha" or "Tree of Heaven".
Unfortunately, this palm is susceptible to many infestations. More than 900 species of insect-pests attack the coconut palm, among those are the rhinoceros beetle, red palm weevil and coconut mite. To control these insect-pest, farmers are solely dependant on chemical sprays, whose injudicious and indiscriminate use leads to pest resistance and inevitable resurgence as well as destroying the natural enemies the insect- pest would have. Weevil Wipeout has proven 95% effective in the erradication of red palm weevil in clinical trials and is totally bio-friendly therefore it does not adversely effect the natural habitat or the food chain.
